Bottle-Digging and Collecting

the Magic of…

01 Schweppes Flask 17C

“Old bottles are beautiful. The glass is flecked with air bubbles and tears; the stoneware burned to a fine gritty texture never seen on modern pottery… And were are these bottles to be found? The fact is that they are all around us – in rivers, in ponds and in long-forgotten rubbish dumps…. Millions of 19th-century bottles were exported from Britain as food and drink containers and as ships´ballast… Dig any 19th-century dump in North America or Australia – and you will find British bottles of that period….” Edward Fletcher, Bottle Collecting, 1972

Digger Kilroy burrows into the earth for Victorian bottles. Alan Klein makes bottles in his spare time. Glass, surfaces, topology, history – all have the potential to melt together in this short documentary.Ian Digger Kilroy: Heres a vid made by luke moody,i did with him a while back to help spread the word, it was entered into a number of film festivals with a bit of success, im sure there is scope to do something much more commercial if the right site came up. Bottle Digging and Bottle Blowing – Ian Digger Kilroy resume the pure quality aspects of consistency with a secret of the snails. must seen between! spiritschweppes.com

keep updated with forthcoming post. Thanks a million and
please carry on the enjoyable work.

  2. Hello there, There’s no doubt that your website might be having internet browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your web site in Safari, it looks fine however,
when opening in Internet Explorer, it’s got some overlapping issues.
I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other than that, wonderful website!

  3. Hi I am so grateful I found your site, I
really found you by accident, while I was searching on Askjeeve for something else, Anyhow I am here now and would just
like to say thanks a lot for a incredible post and a all
round entertaining blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to read through it all at the moment but I have bookmarked it and also added in your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back
to read a great deal more, Please do keep up the excellent
    job.

  4. I’ve learn several good stuff here. Definitely worth bookmarking for revisiting.
I wonder how much attempt you put to make any such excellent informative web site.

  5. First off I would like to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you
do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself
and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I’ve had a tough time clearing my
thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips?
    Appreciate it!

  6. You’re so interesting! I don’t suppose I’ve read through anything like this before.
So great to find somebody with a few unique thoughts on this topic.

Really.. thanks for starting this up. This site is one
thing that is needed on the web, someone with some originality!

  7. Wonderful goods from you, man.I’ve understand your stuff previous to and you’re just tooo wonderful.
I really like what you have acquired here, really like what you’re stating and
the way in which yoou say it. You make it enjoyable and you still take care
of to kerep it sensible. I can not wait to
read much more from you. This is actually a wondeerful web site.

  8. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this website.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal.
I must say you have done a superb job with this. In addition, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Safari.

    Exceptional Blog!

  9. I believe what you said was very reasonable. However,
think about this, suppose you were to create a awesome headline?
I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your website, however suppose you added something that grabbed people’s attention? I mean Bottle-Digging and
Collecting | spiritSchweppes since 1783 is a little plain. You might peek at Yahoo’s home page and see how they write news headlines to get viewers
to click. You might try adding a video or a related pic or
two to grab people interested about what you’ve got to say.
Just my opinion, it would make your website a little livelier.

    • Hi Kathy,

the prename “Schweppe” has its mediaval roots in Westfalia/Germany and is common in thisb region. Westfalia is a horse breeding country, Schweppe means “little whip”. Cheers from Germany, Hans-Jürgen

  10. I often visit your site and have noticed that you don’t
update it often. More frequent updates will give your
page higher authority & rank in google. I know that writing posts
takes a lot of time, but you can always help
yourself with miftolo’s tools which will shorten the time of creating an article to a couple
    of seconds.

  11. With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of
plagorism or copyright infringement? My website has a lot
of completely unique content I’ve either created myself or
outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my permission. Do you know any
solutions to help prevent content from being stolen? I’d
    certainly appreciate it.

    • Hello there, the head of google once said: “If you don’t want an act to come online, just don’t do it.” The same applies to me for postings: if you don’t want the world not to see your postings, then don’t post them. The situation is different for publishing objects with copyrights for intellectual property. The legal process for private people is usually too expensive. Conclusion my opinion: who posts his hobby, posts for humanity and removes the content of personal control. I am happy every time I find “stolen” contents from me on the net. Unless they have been changed, they bring joy and advance the knowledge a bit.
